During our Pilates 1 on 1 sessions, we focus on rehabilitation from a "pre-habilitation" approach to movement. We lean into the preventative path as we delve deep into functional movement patterns and strength training.
Pilates practices work the entire body to ensure smooth movements by incorporating 6 basic principles:
We build from these foundations and basic principles, learning basic set up positions and how to move from our Core (also known in the Pilates world as the ‘power house’), while incorporating the different planes of motion.
At times, small apparatuses may be introduced once the foundation is understood; layering in the use of small props like bands, balls and more.
Adding instability to movement through the use of these small props forces one to focus even more on stability by incorporating multi-level movement patterns to achieve this.
